Tomei ontem, junto com a professora Alda Costa, uma decisão difícil, mas necessária: solicitar nosso descredenciamento do Programa de pós-graduação em comunicação da UFPA. Eleições para a reitoria da UFPA continuam muito mal

O Conselho Universitário (Consun) da UFPA foi repentinamente convocado, ontem, para uma reunião extraordinária que tem por objetivo discutir o processo eleitoral da sucessão do Prof. Carlos Maneschy na Reitoria. Todos sabemos que a razão disso é a renúncia do Reitor para disputar um cargo público – motivo legítimo, sem dúvida alguma, mas que lança a UFPA num momento de turbulência em ano que já está exaustivo em função dos semestres acumulados pela greve. Acho muito interessante quando a universidade fornece quadros para a política. Há experiências boas e más nesse sentido, mas de qualquer forma isso é muito importante e saudável. Penso, igualmente, que o Prof. Maneschy tem condições muito boas para realizar uma disputa de alto nível e, sendo eleito, ser um excelente prefeito ou parlamentar – não estou ainda bem informado a respeito de qual cargo pretende disputar. Não obstante, em minha compreensão, não é correto submeter a agenda da UFPA à agenda de um projeto específico. A de...

Genocídio Yanomami: Bolsonaro não pode escapar

O mundo está estarrecido com com o genocídio Yanomami. As imagens chocantes atravessam o planeta e atestam o que todos já sabiam: houve genocídio. E não há como Jair Bolsonaro não ser imputado por esse crime.  Dados obtidos pela plataforma SUMAÚMA  mostram que, durante o governo Bolsonaro, o número de mortes de crianças com menos de 5 anos por causas evitáveis aumentou 29% no território Yanomami. Foram 570 crianças mortas, em 4 anos, por doenças que têm tratamento. E isso pode não ser tudo, porque o conjunto das terras indígenas em território brasileiro sofreu, ainda de acordo com o Suamúma, um verdadeiro apagão estatístico durante o governo de extrema direita.  O legado de Bolsonaro é um dos mais aviltantes da história do Brasil. Não é de hoje que as terras Yanomami, onde vivem quase 30 mil pessoas indígenas, são agredidas pela especulação do garimpo ilegal, da pecuária ou da cultura do arroz, mas nunca se viu um apoio tão grande do Estado brasileiro a essas atividades....
